How To Play League of Legends

So you want to start playing League of Legends but don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place. League of Legends is considered to be one of the easiest MOBA games for beginners to learn, with forgiving gameplay and intuitive mechanics. With some tips and a bit of practice you’ll be up there with the best of them in no time. Before you start playing online though, there are a couple of things you have to know.

Cover the Tutorial

Just mere words on this article won’t be enough to cover the vastness that is LoL. The handy tutorial when you first start off is there for a reason. Don’t skip it just because you think you’re better than that. Trust us, you’ll be wishing you covered it once you join your first game, as everyone will have an understating of LoL and you’ll have no clue what’s going on around you.

Practice against Bots

League of Legends forces new players to practice against bots for the first couple of games, just until they get a feel for the game. You can join 4 other real players and team up against 5 bots. Provided you do well and progress quickly, you’ll get to level 3 fast and unlock the ability to play online. Do note that once online, the competition gets stiffer and a lot craftier.

Communicate with your Team

Don’t be one of those players who think they’re the best player in their team. Remember, it is a TEAM game, so you need all five players to win. If any one of your allies gets demotivated, cheer them up. Whenever they do something good encourage positive reinforcement, and say things like “Nice try” whenever they fail. Communication in MOBAs like LoL is vital to winning and having a nice time. If you can communicate with your team clearly, your chances of winning will probably quadruple just because you’re all informing each other of everything going on.

Don’t be Afraid to Experiment

Don’t just pick a single role and stick to it. Playing mid is fun, yes, but a tank or a support can be just as exhilarating. Try to have a versatile champion pool and always pick a champion your team needs, not one you want to play the most. A good lineup immediately sets you up with larger odds to win, as opposed to a team who’s running two mid champions and two tanks.

In essence, you can learn virtually anything you set your mind to. League of Legends is no different. If you’ve never played a computer game before you might struggle in the beginning, but anyone who’s familiar with a mouse and a keyboard in a gaming environment will get accustomed to LoL fairly easily. Just remember, looking up Youtube videos or guides is always an option.
